How to use this calculator
- Add a row for each class.
- Choose the letter grade and enter the credits or hours.
- Mark honors or AP/IB classes for the weighted GPA.
How it's calculated
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits
A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, and so on. For the weighted GPA, honors adds 0.5 and AP/IB adds 1.0 to passing grades. Schools vary, so check your own school's scale.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?
Unweighted GPA treats every class the same on a 4.0 scale. Weighted GPA gives extra points for harder classes, so it can go above 4.0.
