Salaried jobs are easier to compare with hourly ones once you know the hourly equivalent. Enter your salary and the hours you actually work to find your real hourly rate.
How to use this calculator
- Enter your yearly salary.
- Set the hours you actually work per week. If you regularly work 50 hours, use 50 to see your true hourly rate.
- Set paid weeks per year.
- Read your hourly rate and pay for each period.
How it's calculated
Hourly rate = yearly salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year)
For a 40-hour week, divide your salary by 2,080. Rule of thumb: halve the salary and drop three zeros. $60,000 a year ≈ $30 an hour (precisely $28.85).

At 40 hours a week and 52 weeks a year, $50,000 is about $24.04 an hour.
